A project making art accessible to visually impaired people
THE PROBLEM
There are 253 million vissually impared people around the world. None of them are able to experience art. 81% of respondents in a survey said the lack of accessibility was the main reason for not visiting museums. Because of the scale of this problem, we decided to solve the problem of making art accessible to the blind.
OUR SOLUTION
Our solution to this problem is to make a refreshable tactile display, called Relifeelable. We would first convert a painting into a 3d model then we would send this 3d model to our tactile display which would lift pins to their appropriate heights to represent the painting
